Sharq Leadership:

The leadership of Sharq Institute of Higher Education is focusing on the achieving of the Sharq Mission and Strategic Goals.

SHARQ Institute of Higher Education is led by full time and effective senior leadership and management team.

The chancellor, Vice chancellor for academic affairs, vice chancellor for finance and administrative affairs and vice chancellor for students affairs , Dean of economics and Dean of science faculties, the Head of department of business administration, head of computer science and head of disaster management are full time appointed and are capable of delivering the leadership of their respective positions/ departments.

In addition the performances of all the mentioned position/ department are reviewed within the year and will match with the strategic goals and mission of the Sharq.

Sharq Governance:

For the smooth operation of the institute has established an effective committee structure and has developed clear terms of reference for each committee. Sharq Institute of Higher Education will regularly review the committee structure and the performance of each committee to ensure that there is appropriate and effective governance across all aspects of its operation. Sharq institute of higher education have the following committees in their structure:

  1. Academic Council
  2. Recruitment and selection committee
  3. Quality Assurance Committee
  4. Curriculum Development Committee
  5. Discipline committee
  6. E-Learning Committee
  7. Research Committee
  8. Examination Committee

Academic Council:

Academic council is the highest authority of decision making within the institute. They are responsible to plan the Academic research, curriculum approval and evaluation, evaluation of academic research plan and giving guidance for the completion of research, developing the short and long term development plans, requesting new faculty launching, development and closing the existing departments within the institute and the academic vice chancellor selection, launching the different committees and their duties and responsibilities.

Academic council will held their meetings at the end of each month; in emergency situation they will take their meeting when needed. A decision will pass when 50+ members of the council are agree with it.

Curriculum Development Committee

Curriculum development Committee will carry the following duties and authority at Sharq Institute of Higher Education

  • Establish policies for and approve courses of instruction and educational programs.
  • Curriculum, including establishing prerequisites and placing courses within disciplines
  • Degree and certificate requirements
  • Grading policies
  • Educational program development
  • Standards or policies regarding student preparation and success
  • District and college governance structures, as related to faculty roles
  • Faculty roles and involvement in accreditation processes, including self-study and annual reports
  • Policies for faculty professional development activities
  • Processes for program review
  • Processes for institutional planning and budget development, and
  • Other academic and professional matters as mutually agreed upon between the governing board of departments and the academic Council.
  • Approval of New and Revised Courses
  • Curriculum committees review and approve degree-applicable credit courses, non-degree credit courses, and noncredit courses.

  • Basic Skills Requirements.

The Curriculum Committee Chair:

A key role on the committee is that played by the chair.

  1. Prepare agendas
  2. Conduct the committee meetings edit minutes
  3. Set the calendar of committee meetings
  4. Keep informed of curriculum standards including, the Curriculum Standards Handbook, intersegmental, and accreditation
  5. Supervise the orientation of new members and on-going training of continuing members
  6. Assist discipline faculty in the curriculum development process (usually with faculty curriculum committee member from that department)
  7. Assure that committee functions take place smoothly: technical review, prerequisite review, distance education review, general education review, library sign-off, and program review reports to the committee
  8. Report regularly to the academic Council
